Lean Gas Combustion

axiom is developing a new process for the combustion of lean carbon dioxide – methane mixtures. A possible application is the combustion of offgases from biogas upgrading plants to meet legal requirements for hydrocarbon emission. The methane content in offgases of high recovery membrane biogas upgrading plants  is in the range of 0.5 – 2 vol.% and can by burned and neutralised using the developed combustion system.

The system is characterized by its quick and easy start-up. In the steady-state operation, the flame burns independently. The specific energy consumption is below 0.01 kWh/Nm³ of offgas. The methane emissions are in accordance with the Gasnetzzugangsverordnung (the German Gas Grid Access Directive) and TA-Luft (the German Clean Air Act).
